Looking to buy a new green tint windscreen to fit to my '74 911.
After successfully refitting my rear screen myself I was going to fit this one also - so only looking for supply.

Can anyone recommend a source at a reasonable price.

I notice a lot of companies seem to want a large excess to ship them, or are collection only.

Rosepassion will do one for about £200 delivered - but getting it shipped from France seems the wrong thing to do.
Any thoughts?

go to Pilkington automotive near Dartford, they will make you one to order, but you will have to collect

I get all mine from 2 plus 1 Windscreens in Uckfield, they fit FOC with a warranty.

Can anyone tell me what the spec should be for a '74 car?
I've been locally offered a clear windscreen with top tint and antenna.
My other glass is green tint so don't expect the original screen would have been clear.
Also I don't expect the antenna would have been available in '74.

I was looking for a green tint with no top tint ( and no antenna ).
Is my spec closest to original or am I confused ( I normally am )

Finally any thoughts on what a typical/fair price is?

Antenas were certainly fitted in 1984 to 3.2s, PET shows them available for SCs. Top tint seems to come in with the SC as far as I can work out. Your car would have had a plain tinted or clear screen, probably matching the side windows, although it would have been possible to have a mix.

Thanks again for the advice Nick, that fits in with my expectation.

Now that I have struck up a dialogue with my local fitter hopefully he can source the right one rather than just offer the wrong one he has in stock.

Many thanks Stu for your help passing me over to the Southampton department of National Windscreens.
They took my VIN number and contacted Porsche to check what the original screen would have been.
Once they ascertained it was a green tint with no top tint or antenna they ordered it Wednesday and they helpfully delivered it for free on the Friday.

Really great service from National Windscreens - would happily recommend them.

So I have a SIGLA branded windscreen made by Pilkington in the UK for a very reasonable price.



I spent a few hours trying to fit it this afternoon but not quite got the technique sorted, as I wasn't happy with the way the rubber was sitting in the top corners - but will try again tomorrow.
Is there a good technique for front screen fitting?

What problem with the top corners ? Tented up ? I suspect that it's too far in across bottom which makes the glass sit up thus not letting the top corners drop in correctly. Try putting the bottom in last. Hope that makes sense. If you're really struggling you got our number.
