The car wasn't billed as anything that it wasn't. Unclear where the reserve was but looked like a solid motor and I can't really understand the level of nitpicking and abuse it got. That's a different question though.

I always thought the T5B was as good looking (if not a little better ) than the C... Personal preference but its interesting to see people talking the T5 down.

Seems to me that whenever cars appear on the market, various board members set about rubbishing them and crabbing the price. You rarely ever see anything positive.

Cars are worth what they sell for, which will be for quite a bit less now until the spring.

Phil: If you read what is written about other cars on BAT, I think you'll find that it relates less to the specific car than to the instant comment ability the internet offers.

Allow me to use the analogy that it is best not to get opinions on race horses from wheat farmers. Comments from people qualified only by the ownership of an email address have only throw-away value.

Ah, at last another T5 enthusiast, you are not alone, people were astonished that i went looking for a T5B when i started looking. IMHO the best all round combination, but hey, each to their own. W

I have never understood the "C" hype..

Seems like a lot of people test drive bad examples of whatever model and start picking on them, often bad mouthing "old technique" like the drum brakes...

Personally, I prefer an A but a T5B is a close second!

Ive got a C, I wasn’t aware of any hype around the model, but it is very good driving and comparatively fast car for 1964. I really like it. Unbelievable that it was £500 more than an E Type in the day until you remember that a Citroen Safari was more expensive than any of the Jags till we voted for the “Common Market”.

It'll be interesting if the T5 haters attack this one too.....

Count me in as another T5 fan, note I sold my A and not the T5 a couple of years ago.
The drum brakes are perfectly fine when properly looked after, but I'm not sure what people think a 50 plus year old car is supposed to drive like.
There's definitely hype around the C, probably because it's the last of the line and perceived as the most developed and the T5 is the most common so maybe more easily dismissed on those grounds?

I have always liked the BT6. Properly set up the brakes are fine and the dash looks great. I like the larger glass area at the rear and in a hot climate, the 1/4 vents are so valuable. Paradoxically, in Australia it is one of the least common. Only 44 where sold here in RHD (4 of those to New Zealand), according to our records here.

I like 'em all. They're all old porsches. I bought a T5B nearly 10years back now because I had always wanted a 356 and I liked the rusty luggage rack on the back of it...and I could afford it. I'm more than happy with it - it's got 1/4 lights in the doors! What I do know (cause I looked at Hagerty's valuations last week) is that a T5b is worth half what the previous year's A is worth. Bargain?

the T5's now seem far more rare than the T6, as they were seen as the runt of the family so presumably suffered more attrition....all the road tests regarded the C as an improvement on the T5 owing mainly to the rear suspension alterations and the disc brakes but at least my T5 will be far less common than all the T6's and A's at shows....and, yes, it was all i could afford as well

And it varied from country to country Adrian. In Australia and NZ, the RHD T5 sold more than twice the numbers sold of the T6. Many reasons, mostly economic conditions at the time.

The round bonnet does it for me...
