Hi All

She is back on the road having had a complete new floor and fresh MOT - only took 4 months!!

Anyway.....

Dad had 4 genuine 16" Fuchs (p.n 911 361 020 43 & 911 361 020 45) which need a refurb.

I have (yet another!) dilemma

Option 1

Sell the 16's as they are - what are they worth?
Have them refurbed and sell them - what are they worth done?

Option 2

Have them refurbed (RS style I think) and fit them to the car
Sell the current genuine 15's that need a refurb (albeit a much cleaner set of wheels as they are) - what are they worth?

If I decide to fit the 16's are there any other things I need to consider (tyre size, rubbing on full lock etc?)

Does anyone have any ideas either way?

Personally, I think the 15's look a bit small......

Would be good to have some advice.....again! (Sorry, I know!)

No idea on the wheels, but very pleased to hear that you have got new floors in!

The only time you ever see people running 16s on a 914 is in the states Ben - not sure they are right! The guys I compete with in early 911s usually say that 16s upset the handling, then go back to 15s. You certainly won't need them to gain width options, as anything much over a 225 on the rear (even with GT arches) is not really necessary.

I run 7 and 8 by 15s on mine, 205/50s on the front and 225/50s on the rear and they are spot on with GT arches. I occasionally ran a 12mm spacer in competition but not really needed. You could go wider but I think it would be over the top.

If you are narrow bodied I would expect you to have clearance problems with 16s

Car is parked on a steeply cambered kerb, so looks artificially high on on the offside.

That said, these are low profile tyres, and more traditional higher profile tyres would fill the GT arches more.

Handling is impeccable with this set up.

I’ve seen 16s on quite a few GT arched cars, and not just US cars.
I do like the look, but defo prefer 15s myself.

Iv'e got 6.0 x 16" on mine which is standard width and they are great.
A GT lookalike that I built in Singapore had 7" and 8" 16's which made
the steering quite heavy. We put 15's on it and the owner much
preferred them.

i have 7x16 and 8x16 (from 944 Turbo with other offset) at my car.
195/50/16 in front and 205/55/16 at back. You have to pull the fenders a little bit...
I looks and drive great

So, the wheels I have at the moment are 5.5x14 - 911.361.016.10 on the rears. I've not taken the fronts off yet but expect they are the same.

They just look a bit small IMO. I don't really want to have to but 15's and end up with three sets albeit not for long!

I'm so bloody confused....!
