Weber 40 idf Air Filter Question

About to rebuild my carbs as the MOT man didn't like the drip from one of the accelerator pump diaphrams. They are currently fitted with chrome topped K&N filters, which are 15 years old and havn't been properly cleaned for at least 7 years....Inside they have straight velocity stacks about 50mm tall.
What are reckoned to be the best (in performance terms) air filters and appropriate velocity stacks these days?

Performance wise I wouldn't know but these are nice as they look vintage and a bit like super 90 and sc filters.

I think that the height of stack is tough question to answer without knowing the cam and if you have a big bore kit. I also have chrome topped K&N filters and about 50mm stacks I think you have a nice setup. Why not just clean/replace the filters?
