Morning all,

Well the fourteen has been running very nicely over the last year...used most days.

Used it last on Sunday; started it this morning and it was back firing a lot and would not 'pull' properly under 2500 revs ?? :? :?: ...

Got it nice and warm ( ) and it runs perfectly OVER 2500 revs, just lumpy and 'popping' under..

Lat night, I think more rain fell in two hours than we usually get in a month and although it was under a tarp' I wondered if moister had 'got' to something ?? :?:

I have WD40'ed all the main electrical parts and have left the engine cover 'up' to try and dry it out...do you think that it is just wet, or is this symptamatic of something else...??

Cheers, Mark 8)

Have you checked to see if there's any moisture (condensation) inside the distributor cap ?

Nope, will go do now....

Checked..looked OK..oh, well, I'll take it for a mid-morning blast to see if it is any better ...nearly sliced my finger off getting the dizzy cap clip off ! ...now I remember why I usually leave most things to the experts....because im useless !

Thanks

Yes, large quantities of blood and severed body parts within distributor area may interfere with the smooth running of the vehicle ....

Are you on carbs? Could be blocked idle jets.

Yep, on carbs... twin 38 dells ...I think  ...had something similar on a bug, wich was traced to crap in the fuel tank....I removed/cleaned the tank etc and it was fine, so does possibly point to dirt etc in the lines/carbs...

Thanks... :)

When I had that car I had the same problem. It was the idle jets.

Unscrew them and then throw them in a cup of carb cleaner and swoosh them around for a bit, and if you can blow the jets clear.

Then it should run really well again.
Hopefully.
