Very brave. Can you make some of the panels yourself and please can we have photos.
As someone who has spent probably approaching £200k on resurrecting Bentleys, I can't recommend 356s highly enough. At least you'll probably get your money back.

This thread needs some pictures!
Best of luck! Incidentally, I have been pondering ISOFIX solutions for my 6 month old, so she can come with me in the 356. I need to get the gearbox and engine back in first though.

Gill,
Now that is interesting. Its possible your new 59 356A arrived at AFN on the same transporter as mine back in March 59. My car has the number P405 on the AFN info I have. Only 5 numbers on from yours.
The condition is also making me wonder like everyone else. As far as you thinking have I made the right decision as long as you can see it as viable then your money is probably going to earn much more for you than the bank. You have experience and you know the pitfalls I reckon.
Best of luck indeed.

Better than bank rate returns and fun too.Take small steps at a time, make a plan.
Enjoy the journey!

Thanks all.
So yeah, just had a moment, got offered he car for what I think is fair money. It retains the original 4 digit reg & is mostly complete apart from the engine.
I basically swapped my 356 & Allgaier A111 tractor for a 64 11 window ragtop spilitscreen & money. Then with that money bought the 59, I have a decent chunk of change that I want to use to get the car correctly welded & buy the missing parts - engine, headlights, driver's door window regulator & a few other bits & bobs.
The I plan to keep as much original paint as possible & make the car a mechanically & structurally perfect semi outlaw.
I won't be doing much of the welding due to having a 9 month old boy, which is the reason I wanted a VW bus as part of the deal so I can go camping with him, the 356 has essentially been a white elephant for the last year.
Hopefully it'll work out!

Seems photo bucket has gone rubbish. Should work if you click on the 'images'.

Photobucket died a few months ago, unless your pay heaps for a third party posting account. Try Postimage.

Or better still Flickr, it's even better if you're using Apple too.
