DDK - Die Deutschen Klassiker

I've never had a 914 and really quite fancy one - are all panels and parts available ? Who are the recognised UK 914 experts/restorers ?

Any opinions on this ?

Reasonable price ( at the moment ) but looks like it could need some work !

Really great car that.
It's being discussed at length on 914world and elsewhere.

Aside from the fact that it's a real 6 (without its original engine tho), the real attraction is its wonderful back story.



It also is Very Rusty, and will need a huge amount of patience to restore it if it is to last another generation.

A large array of parts are being reproduced for these cars.
However - just like early 911s - not ALL parts are being reproduced, so in a restoration there still will be those pieces that you need to spend a lot of time / money sourcing.

And that car does deserve a full and expensive restoration.

I would love to, if I had the money.
And if I wasn't already nearing completion of my own signal orange 914!

The most prominent 914 specialist is Angus Watt - camperco on here.

Not sure if his services run to full rustorations but he'll be the best starting point

There's a much wider network of 914 specialists in the US and - perhaps just as or even more important - parts are way more readily available over there.

A good option therefore with buying a 914 in the US is to have the restoration done there, before shipping.

Yes it's all arms length stuff that way, but if you choose right and do your homework you could save time and money that way, and get an excuse to fly out to your restoration shop within the budget.

Very different if instead you wanted to do some / all of the work yourself of course.
