Anyone got a Bahama Yellow car I can look at

Post by Martin s »

Hi,

I am having trouble getting Bahama Yellow right, I have got spray outs but they all look so different. Does anyone have a car (preferably original paint) I could take a look at. I am based in Buckinghamshire but will travel. Thanks in advance.

It's not an original paint car but Darren and his master paint man did a fabulous job of painting Jamies 912 to bahama yellow. I can imaging that it's a close to perfect to the original colour knowing Darren.

Look at Jamies huge restoration thread around page 58 and to my eye it looks a dead on likeness for the correct shade.

Regards
Mike

Hi, thanks all. I got the first spray out to Daryls garage mix in PPG , it looked quite light, then I got PPG standard Bahama yellow mix and it was so much warmer, almost orange.

Still confused. Daryls mix is bottom and standard PPG at the top.

In my head the word that best describes the tone of bahama yellow is 'butterscotch'.

Hi all,

Thanks for all the input. I sent both samples to a guy in the US who has an original paint car. He compared them both to his car on a bit inside the door jamb. He confirms that the bottom sample is correct - that is the mix from the scan of Darryl's 66 car. The PPG standard Colour is off and too orange.

Worth contacting Darren65. He is very particular about colour accuracy. One of his painters did my car and it looks great.

Before this, I painted it with the PPG mix and the shade was ugly as hell.
