I've been offered a 1983 911 SC at very favourable money.
It's a European car ( LHD ) in Bronze Metallic with the grey / beige interior, sticky up headlamp washers, and whale tail
It needs dash pad sorting, door pockets replacing, seat repair, a couple of scratches painting, and new tyres
I understand mechanically it's solid
Is there anything else I should worry about on this particular model and what's the market like as I will be moving it on once the work is done?

Looks tidy, but just all the rust spots we all know on early cars. Not sure the later ones are much better.
It has been on a track too obviously.

Ask for photos around the B post area, door latch and the sill area around the jacking point. Also around the battery tray and crossmember. All easily photographed.
It does look pretty reasonable if a little tired on the inside.

Re: 1983 911 SC
Sadly the periscope washers disappeared in 1979 so they're not OG.
Shouldn't an 83 have the later whale tail with the raised grill?
Wrong speedo too, should be 160mph.
Do you have the VIN? Engine no? Is it defo an 83 car?
I think side repeaters arrived for 83, but there are lots of other bits that point to it being an earlier car, my guess would be it's a bitsa.
The colour combo is ace, but looking at the fit of the doors and bonnet and the likelihood a few of the bits are from other cars I'd put money on it being a ropey restoration that needs everything doing again, properly.
Higher res pics needed at the very least, but I'd not be parting with cash without seeing it in the metal.
204 SC motors are brilliant but regularly pull head studs and do leak oil, like they all do. Blat it hard and if you hear a farting sound it's likely to be a stud.
When it's finished, it ought to be £35-£40k. But it would have to be very nice for that.

Re: 1983 911 SC
Thanks Sam
Yes, I was a little confused by the periscope washers, and the speedo is a good spot
It's definitely got the right VIN for an 83 Euro Car. I have not checked the engine is matching, but the number is in the right area
Just spoke to the seller and he knows little of it's history other than it's been sitting a while.
Typically for a dealer in the USA ( yes despite being a Euro car it's in California ) he sees it as a driver
I'd like to do it the right way, but would probably need to spend around £4-£6,000 on it as it stands, and that's without any surprises
So even with that invested at Sam's £30 - £40,000 value for a finished car, there is still a margin in it....but I'm less excited than when I first saw it
