I have a w code 1.7 engine which likely came from a 411. I bought a new clutch 215mm plate. That fits but the pressure cover doesn't. It sits just on top of the ring gear. Plus the bolts are m7's not m8.

My question is are all standard 914 type flywheels the same? Does anyone know of one for sale?

411 had a different flywheel. The 914 flywheel is deeper so the ring gear is deeper set into the bellhousing. The 914 flywheel also has dowels as extra locating pins for the pressure plate. The 411 doesn't have the dowels, I think. If you photo the flywheel, I'll check it against my spare.
Also, the 914 flywheel has a pilot bearing, whereas the 411 has it in the end of the crankshaft (so deeper in).

You're correct there are no locating dowels, only bolt holes. how does the bearing difference affect changing the flywheel? The w code was fitted to early 914's from what i've read and thete are few differences in the motors.

The 411 flywheel is different but the rest of the "W" engine core is the same. Perhaps EFI differences if that's still there. Just need to remove the pilot bearing from the end of the crank (you can't have two pilot bearings fitted so you need to remove the crank fitted one as the correct flywheel has one) and fit a 914 flywheel.

You can buy a AA pistons product that is a replacement option. However, you should do your own research on AA products and decide for yourself. I'd strongly suggest sourcing from a UK supplier in case the machining is not spot on. I think Sebro also make a version for a German / euro retailer and their quality has a better reputation but it is more expensive.
The photos of the AA pistons version doesn't show the clutch plate dowel pins that the original has, which locate the clutch more accurately.

Might be tempted to part with my spare but I'd need to check it thoroughly to make sure it is good enough to pass on. I know the seal surface is good which is the typical problem.
