It could well be. It's the right year and a nice looking car. Not Ravenna Green, but you can't have everything.

Whether it's a good buy at $19k will depend on the details and how it drives, which you can't see from here.

Worth a punt tho, it must be worth close to the price even if it's not quite as good as it looks.

Also, I may have missed something, but are you attempting to buy every old Porsche that comes up for sale this month? It feels like it...

It certainly looks like a good one to me. All of the expensive to replace items look to be in good cosmetic condition like the bumpers and bumper tops and the interior looks to be in good shape too.

The only downside to it is it's not an original 2.0L if that's what you were looking for.

I'd want to see more photos of the usual rust spots - the battery area and the longs specifically. They can be rusty on dry state cars too.

Yeah - probably ! - I've got six months off work ( due to illness), a chunk of cash and a computer with piston heads/pelican/classic cars for sale on favourites - probably not just Porsches - I bought my girlfriend an R8 for her birthday two weeks ago ( I wanted one as well and that's the kind of guy I am !). Also just having a new oak framed garage going through planning so I don't have a storage problem any more - I suppose the only issue is will I actually drive them, but I got over that issue years ago !

I've never driven a 914 and there are some interesting ones on Pelican - some done as 914/6 with 3.2 engines which look quite interesting. I have a supercharged Lotus Elise and a 914 strikes me as being a Porsche variant on this - I really need to drive one.

Certainly a 4/6 with the wide arches and Fuchs holds a lot of appeal !

Sometimes illness makes you realise life is short and you can do worse than spunking all your cash enjoying it.

That's not to say I condone buying an R8. There can be no excuse for that.

They're great cars - I had the second one delivered in the UK when they were new in 2007 !

I'm going to buy myself a "symbolic" car which I wouldn't normally have bought unless I'd been ill and received a BIG critical illness policy payout. On my list are Jaguar "C" Type replica / Pagoda / Porsche 914 or 4/6 replica etc, etc, etc - something that when I drive it and the sun's shining it makes me smile and reminds me that I've come out of the other side of all this shite !

Also should I decide to sell it at a future date I'd likely send to to auction with the proceeds going to the local "Daisy appeal" cancer charity who've helped me so much !

Quite enjoying looking at the moment and it fills my day between treatments - we're off to Monterey/Carmel /Pebble Beach classic car week in August so if I can hang on until then I'll see what's available there !

I'd like a C Type rep one day. Or a Lotus 11 rep. Or something like that. Get one of those. It would feel very different to your other cars on a beautiful day, where the 914 or Merc probably wouldn't.

I look at US 914s frequently.
When my next chunk of " car money" comes in- I'm buying one , doing the CURVES California book [cos thats where it will be ] and then driving it to East Coast to be shipped hoime.

That's nowhere near as nice as the red car and after glancing through the photos there's loads of incorrect and missing parts. Incidentally those are the smaller early bumpers with front overriders probably from a 73 car. Originally this car would of had the later 'cumbersome' bumpers as pictured below.
