Fiberglass bonnet, should I or shouldnt I?

After my deer trauma, I am going to have to repaint my SC's bonnet (I mean get someone to paint it!)..I quite liked the patina, but now it has a crack and a big flap of paint that looks rubbish and will trap water.
I took it off and was amazed by the weight of it, and see that a f/g bonnet is only £195 from Pro-9..so, quite tempted. Probably would give me 10kg+ off the car.
I have a f/g engine lid from clubsport already, and it is fine..can't decide! What do you reckon lads?

11kg. You can get a sticky on badge too!
When you run into the next deer with your plastic bonnet will you survive? With the weight saving you will be going 5mph faster and this time it might be a one ton stag.
Live dangerously. Live on the edge. Go plastic. Save money.

You have a car with a proportionally heavier rear end and you want to increase that imbalance more....?
Your Fibreglass lid will not just fit straight out of the box...I would wager....be prepared for much fettling and additional prep before paint
Can you not do a localised repair and blend in....otherwise the spanking new bonnnet will look out of character with the surrounding patina......or put some self adhesive stripes on the bonnet to cover a patch..?

Used good steel ones can be had on Ebay and alike for around £100, will most likely fit straight away and will just need painting.
F/G ones will require more fitting time, paint, removal of both strut/lifters and probably a new thinner/softer rubber seal to fit right/flush.

while you're at it fit SCRS front and rear bumpers. Huge wight saving and look great, imho…...

I like the look of impact bumpers! I think I am going to stick with the original lid. Off to the paint shop tomoz..

Did you end up going with a f/g bonnet - if so any post-install feedback? I don't anticipate hitting any wildlife! In any event it's limited, once out of urban areas, mainly to porcupines and kudu
. Kudu always jumps about 8 feet into air......so should be fine in contrast to the truckers!
I'm thinking of the EB Motorsport version and they have a good reputation. Saving of about 13/14kg which shouldn't le laughed at, especially if you're aspiring to a lightweight "sport purpose" vehicle....!
