Hi,

Joining the fold with a 68' 912 that I've been driving and maintaining for around 5 years.
I'm not afraid of getting the toolbox out and have done quite a few jobs on the car over the years.

What made me buy a 912 - Duane Spencer's book.

Best time with the car - using as daily driver for a month.

Not-so-Best time with the car - retro-fitting a mechanical fuel pump, dropping a washer into the 3rd piece of the crankcase necessitating it's removal.

Most rewarding DIY upgrade - new rear torsion bar/trailing arm bushings.

Current head-scratchers - Do I keep the Webbers (Engine runs well but rich) or refurbish and fit the split shaft solex carbs I have sitting around? My bilstein Jack has a broken pin and roller - need to fabricate a replacement.

Cheers

James

I'm in Gloucestershire with a 356 so nice to see an owner not so far away.

If the Webers are rich take the car to a rolling road that does Webers. In Stroud we have www.spamspeed.com who does all sorts for us from supercharged Bugattis to R-R&B or Hondas, so there must be one near you.

In the long run it'll be easier and cheaper to get the Webers right. I've got a spare pair of Zeniths with manifolds, but need Solexes or Webers for an engine I'm building.
