Having trouble fitting rear quarter windows into a 911SC. The rubbers are new ones from Porsche and a car glass fitter struggled to do it, so I was just wondering if anyone had any useful tips or should I just reuse the old ones.

I had exactly the same Porsche side window rubbers and the window fitter just couldn't get them to fit so put the old ones back in. He did make an arse of my front and rear screens too though so make of that what you will. I haven't been able to get anyone to fit mine properly despite calls to a number of specialists. It seems nobody wants the job.

If you mean fitting the rubbers to the window frame? then these are a real pain to fit. IMO there are two ways to do it - dry or wet - both work but you find one way may be easier for you. The dry method involves very little or no lubrication where the rubber is pushed into the window frame channel and you can hear a "pop" as it locates correctly. You can also try wet with washing up liquid but I found that especially on the short edge of the frame that the additional lubrication meant that it popped out no sooner than it had popped in, but in other areas it helped locate teh rubber in the channel. They are a bugger - esp the short edge.

You are thinking of the early opening quarter windows, I think the OP is talking about the later type.

Regarding the later type, I don't normally have a problem, hardest bit is keeping the insert from popping out when you string the rubber in.

It's definitely a two person job.

Yes first window fitter managed the windscreen but couldn't get rear quarters to start to go in. Said they were too big but they're original Porsche ones. Different fitter coming on monday.

Fitted all fine but took three men 2 hours
