Hi, hoping that someone on here can point me in the right direction.....I'm looking for a tech chart that will ID my 901 transmission, I would like to find out what year/car it originally came in. (I'm planning on fiting it into a Karmann Ghia for some 5 speed lovin!)

ANy links or if anyone has a chart then I'd be most graetfull, thanks,

funny thing is this box has been converted already to run in a vw -it came out of a running beetle. I guess the clutch mechanism has been altered somehow but I dont know how cause I've never seen a stock one.

I've fitted a 911/01 'box to my Split window beetle, it's a tight fit

My box has already been in a bug once and has an adapted brace plate and bent linkeage so hoping that at least the off the car stuff has been done -and the clutch mech has been altered to push

Who did you get the box from?
I saw Sam_Cat on VZi was selling his 'box a while back - that was Mike Ghia's old running gear.

As that's been fitted to an oval & an '03 I'm sure you can get in under a Ghia.

Yeh, I saw that site years ago amd it did inspire me - I didnt know that was the box until after I got it though. Hope Mike and Sam_Cat didnt thrash it to much!!! :D

cant really properly see how it works in the pics but basicaly it is pivoting on that hex bolt position:

Try using this freeware software to change the size of your pics.

The clutch release arm pivots around a ball that is behind the arm. The allen headed bolt attaches a clamp that stops the ball coming out of it's socket. Whilst the engine is out I recommend checking the condition of the plastic bush (socket for the ball) in the back of the release arm. The bush is cheap & is easy to change if the engine's out.
The hex nut is one of 2 that secure the clutch release bearing guide/oil seal

Thanks, I will check it before installing -thanks for the advice, I never would have done that otherwise.

just incase, can you tell me what part it is and recomend a supplier?
