Been meaning to fit my 912 with Inertia reel seatbelts for awhile now.....I have a Inertia reel 3-point kit and some new brackets, but looking at some options for the shoulder fixing point (car originally has nothing on the B-pillar)

I am thinking of welding a fixing point to the B-pillar...has anyone ever done this or got any further info ? Further reinforcement needed etc

The early 911 upper anchorage on the B pillar doesn't look up to much in my opinion. Anything you can fabricate will be stronger! I note the post '73 anchorage is lower down the pillar in a better (but still poor) location.

It's my long term goal (although I haven't done it in 14 years!) to make a close fitting hoop and pick up the upper anchorage.

In the (hopefully unlikely) event.....would the majority of the force go through the Inertia reel and the lap belt mounts ?

Your picture of the B pillar shows the problem, not much in the way of structure. In a significant crash you can pull 9kn through both lap belt anchors and the same again at the shoulder.

Before putting the boss in place I'd double check if your car has a reinforcement inside the B pillar From memory it is double skinned, although it's a very long time since I took it apart!

Maybe someone with a stripped shell can do some more photos.

The lower anchor I've moved onto the sill using a plate like you show. The inner buckle mount I've bolted to the floor under the seat mount rather than the seat as original.
