Continuing to refurb the individual parts. Have been looking at MFI fuel console today.

This morning, it looked like this

By this evening, it looked like this with all the insides cleaned and blown through with compressed air and reassembled with new copper washers.

Not sure i like the shiny finish but i assume it will oxidise over time and revert to the dull finish.

But i have some questions that i would appreciate input on

1. Solenoid - how do i check it works? I googled and found instructions on 3 or 4 pole solenoids but this seems to be a 1 pole!
2. Filter element - The bowl contains steel mesh that i presume performs some function. I dont see how i can disassemble it further though from this point? Do i need to do anything to it?

3. In the original photo, you will see what i presume is an earth wire from one of the mounting plate bolts with the other end free. I dont see this on any photos of the console in situ. Is the earth wire necessary and if so, where does the other end attach?

Thanks

Andrew

1. I would imagine: Find your 12v power supply with short circuit protection (not 12v battery, unless you have a fuse in line, still a bad idea though). Attach black wire to solenoid housing somewhere using crocodile clip. Touch red wire on terminal on top of solenoid. If it clicks, it's working. Bet it is!

2. Filter element (entire unit) is a disposable part, part no PCG 110 909 10
Costs about 50 quid, e.g.
