oil cooler hose restoration

i want to reuse my existing oil cooler hoses - the flexible ones that sit between the hard chassis lines and the wing mounted radiator.

The end fittings themselves seems in good condition as you might imagine but i dont want to refit 45 year old rubber hosing. Is there anyone who can take the original fittings apart and replace the flexible bits to make a 'new' hose or is the assembly process really 1 way so after it has been assembled, you cannot un-assemble?

Thanks

You could try Pirtek, but they probably won't give any kind of guarantee.

Ive always found that hydraulic hose companies like Pirtek often struggle to find the correctly temperature rated hose. Think automotive http://www.thinkauto.com might be worth a try, but if it was me I would be buying new from Porsche.

Kind Regards

i realise the sensible thing to do is buy new but i like the fact that the fittings are dated to the car. All 10/71 and the car was constructed 11/71.

Hi Dougie,

i am currently doing this to the 2.2S oil system on my ST build. The hose is just screwed into the aluminium coupling. It is installed anti- clockwise. You can buy the correct Cohline hose on ebay.

Here is a link.

Some 6 years ago I got the correct hose from elephant Racing and fittings too, cut all to size and Pirtec swaged them.
Been perfect.
They did not have the correct tooling for these weird fittings, but took an educated guess.

It is my understanding that the 2.4 cars also used the the same smooth aluminium coupling. The size increasing to M30 fitting, I think the current offering from Porsche is the crimped coupling that was used on the 73-on cars.

thanks for the advice, especially Dave - i had been trying to screw them off as there was no obvious swaging so had in fact been tightening them.....never thought to try the other way....
