early 911/912 front ventilator window dismantle

Dear All
I have a 66 912 which I am slowly restoring.
The whole front door frames needs re-chroming and I have managed to dismantle the rest of the frames.
the front ventilator glass is really tight in its frame, and there is a push button which locks the window shut. Looking at parts diagrams there appears to be a dowel pin . Any tips on getting this out as it looks like I will have to do this to remove the window glass.
once the pin is out do you prise the glass out? dont want to break anything!
Is there a rubber seal between the frame and the glass?
This is a silly question I know, but can it be re chromed without removing the glass?
probably not , but you never know!!
Thanks
Andrew
