DDK - Die Deutschen Klassiker

Does anyone know what these cars are like, always liked the club sport but now to much ££££'s so looking at the sport model, I like the look of this one http://philipraby.co.uk/listing/1995-porsche-968-sport/
All seem to be fairly high milage
has anyone dealt with this company before

I purchased a 997 from Phil about 4 years ago, top bloke, very honest. No exaggeration it was the best used car I've ever purchased, not a single thing went wrong with it. I stupidly sold it two years later, wish I had kept it. I personally would recommend the dealer, can't speak for that particular car though.

+1 for Phil Raby, very straight guy and easy to deal with.

I've had good dealings with Phil in the past. The 968 is a very well developed design but has some weaknesses. Its easy to research, but off the top of my head the big ones are potential engine top-end issues, and diffs. A new clutch is a biggish job too.

As with all front engined Porsches, a well maintained suspension set-up is key to a good car. In my experience, dampers get forgotten about and every 944 or 968 I've ever owned has benefitted enormously from a new set. Koni Sports are as much as you need, not expensive KW or 'M030' components.

BTW I sold my lovely rhd Maritime Blue 968 ClubSport for £10k a few years ago

drive one before buying .. I found them lacking in soul or character .. and this was when they were £10K. Depends what you're after in a car .

You'll already know a sport is a specced up CS , so in theory driving experince will be the same unless the CS has the suspension ( m030 ? ) package & diff

I agree with James - I considered buying one ~ 5 years ago as they seemed to offer great value for money but found them to be 'too efficient'.

I owned a 924 Carrera GT for ~ 12 months back in the early '90's which had a similar 'feel' - very fast but lacking in character ...

viewed the car and the colour is just great, I love the look of the outside of the car but the interior and dash is probably just to modern and boring really.It also drove really well. Still not quite taken by it. he would take 19k which is a good price

Yes, the CS, I have driven several.

The problem isn't the low wheel , it's your high waist

I have had four 968's over the years. For a while I was assistant register secretary at PCGB. Until recently they were an absolutely bargain, I never paid more than £7k for one, they are really well built and the only Achilles heel is the cams which loose teeth, then there is a big bang! A new head gasket will probably be needed, but very, very rare to find any rust. Not unusual to clock up big mileage, over 200,000 often seen. You can still find ones with around 140,000 on the clock for £14k if you look around. I wouldn't pay anything like £19k without plenty of history and a cast iron warranty.
