I've got to order a lightweight flywheel for this Porsche but don't know which type it is (the car is not here). Is it a 9 bolt one? or a 6 bolt one? or something else?

It will be 9 Bolt
BUT there are two different 9 bolt SC Flywheels.
The change occurs in 1979/1980 and I think that 180 and 188BHP engines had the early type but I am not 100% certain.
The early flywheel uses the early style of Pilot bearing from the 6 Bolt flywheels which is a press fit.
The later flywheel uses the bolt-on style of pilot bearing and has a different fitting arrangement onto the crank.
I don’t believe that they will be interchangeable.
We are machining both designs at the moment.
The heat treated blanks have been rough turned and stress relieved. Final turning should be completed early next week.
We will also have a 6 bolt version.

Chris - How can I get in contact with you, do you have a website for your company?
Also, if I have an older engine with 6 bolt crank (but use a 1979 915 gearbox), can I use the 6 bolt flywheel but a later friction plate and pressure plate for a 9 bolt flywheel? so that it connects to the driveshaft in the gearbox and works with the pull style release arm in the 915?

All 915 use the same clutch and flywheel, the best one to use being the Sachs Sports clutch with the aluminium housing, available from Kontact, but not EuroCarParts. If the car is a 79 SC it's VERY unlikely to have a Carrera 3.0 6 bolt crank, they were deleted on the change to the 3.0 SC motor and 3.3 Turbo

Yes, but, what engine is in it, though? It could be a rogue C3!
