Hello you gorgeous lot

I have finally come to the decision that my leaky old solexs need a good old fashioned rebuild/refurb.

I did post something a while ago regarding this but was too busy spending my hard earned on another old banger.

So, would love a bit of a reminder on who is the best person to rebuild, there was a place in Coventry !!! Am I correct? I am in London, would be great if there was somebody closer to home.

Hope u are all having hassle free driving

Regards

DK xxx

Since you are in London considering calling Paul at PRS (in Essex). They are very helpful and have lots of experience with solexes but I don't know if they will actually rebuild. However, they can at least point you in the right direction.

Chris at Fenn Lane on here as fetuhoe has done a few too.

DK,
There are rebuilds and there are rebuilds - Just pulling a carb to pieces - cleaning it and making it look pretty is NOT a rebuild

There are basically 2 x types of Solex carbs. fitted to 356/912`s
Both suffer form a number of problems but mainly
1) - WEAR where the Butterfly Shafts run in the body and
2) - WEAR in the carb lower throats where the butterflys dig into the body due to the shaft body wear

To repair this damage requires machining and custom made parts

Paul will give you straight answers on where we are with Carb restoration
