Hello !!

Post by mark b »

:fish:
Hi
Thanks for letting me into DDK. Recommended by my mate Al, an existing member.
I'm a lifelong 911 fan, having worked at Autofarm as one of my first weekend and summer hols at school jobs in the 80's (yes...vintage...) I got hooked on early cars and their modified brethren.
Favourite memories include spectacular test drives in Josh Sadler's 3.5 hillclimb weapon, delivery driving a mint 2.4S from Germany to Guernsey, a 73RS rep from Autofarm to Scotland to Mike Bainbridge, developing a 3.4 Weber throttle bodied SC special, first rides in the 3.0 and 3.3 turbos when first launched....and many more.
Dream? to buy (ha!)/build and race a Porsche 908/3 a la Vic Elford....
As soon as I could I bought a 911 - a dark blue 964 Carrera. I will dig out a picture to share.
Had to let that go and have then shared a 2005 BoxsterS with the missus since new ( do I get kicked out for that?) Now at 110K miles including increasing time on the track.
Been looking for a few years now. Toyed with a GT3, should have bought and then saw the prices sky rocket!! Typical.
Now looking for a 911 project to build into a light, balanced, fun fast road/track car...probably S/T, RS look, but like the idea of doing something unique. Ground up resto?....997 on a diet....?
So...all advice, leads and chat welcome!

Cheers

Careful what you wish for...

I seem to recall Josh concluding "there must be something you can do" when we first approached him for school Saturday jobs, but the local Porsche specialist was more appealing than stacking shelves in the supermarket.

From a previous Goodwood trackday thread:

Strangely, Mark's BoxsterS doesn't seem to be quite as economical as 911hillclimber's, must be broken...
