Home Built Hot Rod (Full video build)

Hey guys,

I am an Aussie guy building my dream 911 in my shed. I have been at it for a while and some of you may have seen my build thread in other places, but for those of you who haven't I will share some of the highlights.
I bought a very rough US delivered '74 911 which had been (very roughly) converted to RHD with the usual rust, not running with pulled head studs, and began building an RSR inspired toy. This is not in any way a faithful reproduction, I am just trying to build my ideal 911. The other part is that I plan to do every single part of the build myself, from the rust repair, roll cage, fibreglass, engine rebuild, interior the lot.

To document the process, I decided to film it and put it up on youTube for all to see.

Here are some of the highlights so far,

Intro to the car. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XkFb4uQikHc

Thanks Jonathan,

Doing the videos at least gives me the kick in the butt to keep going. Considering I have been sanding now for what feels like forever, trying to get everything perfect so I can paint the thing. I just have to keep going to try and get it painted so I can get the next video out at the end of the week.

Watched all your diy videos, great.

I too will be considering a re spray to my 73T and had thought of a plastic garage just for this.

Do you need a filter on the incoming air as much as the outgoing air?

Yes you do, mostly to keep dust out, as that is the biggest bug bear of painting your car. You want to get as clean a space as possible.

Thanks for that brembo ;)

Well I am straight back into it, and after what seemed like an eternity of sanding, I have finally got the body painted.

Here is the video.

Looks fantastic and gives you a real appreciation of the amount of work involved to get a quality finish.

Watched your 2 part episode on the tent-garage as the spray booth, really good and has made me think about the re-paint myself.

What paint system did you use, 2K or cellulose?
