Gents.
Can anyone recommend a decent performance coil and where to source one for my 1969 911T? I replaced it not so long ago, some of you may remember it was the final touch to getting the car running spot on after my Weber rebuild thread a while back. Well i suspect it may be misbehaving prior to dying already. The slight hesitation when revving through and at top end is beginning to appear again, something that disappeared as soon as i replaced the coil last time. My other classic is an Austin Healey and i found out to my cost that there is a thriving industry in "Healey World" of nasty, sub standard Chinese crap doing the rounds and badged up accordingly to make it look good. I have a sneaky feeling now that i may have fallen victim to the same in "911 World" and the fix was only a temporary respite. The coil seems excessively hot after driving so i suspect it is on the way out. It was sold as OEM from a well known UK source, but i am beginning to have my doubts.

even the 'OEM' bosch stuff can be cheap brazillian

Not sure what peole are runing these days ? MSD ? .. what does the guy who does the updated cdi boxes on here recomend ?

Been running a black coil from http://www.autoelectricsupplies.co.uk/category/13 for years now.

We use Beru ZS 106 coils when we run points - they are 3 .3 Ohms primary and work well.

Hi at the moment I am in the same position and after a replacement coil. I have found the beru model above for around £65 on Amazon. I'm not sure what to do as I would like one with the period look but want it to be reliable too. Watching this thread with interest.

Eurocarparts can supply them at a lower price.

Hi gents called eurocarparts this morning and the don't stock beru at all tried gsf also and they don't stock beru either? Anyone any ideas? Sorry to hijack

I bought 10 of these from Eurocarparts in Coventry last month.

They just quoted me £27 + VAT each and they are in stock at the MDC.

Call me and I will post you one.

I must say that some of the branch staff are not too helpful.

I had a meeting with a ECParts/LKQ rep the other day who told me they now have a dedicated Porsche parts rep who can look after U.S.. I'll dig out the name and direct line and post it.

I try to use ECP regularly as they do have some good attributes but it is increasingly difficult to source some parts.

There is a Porsche Department in Wembley and has been for many years but the stock levels and interest in older cars has diminished since the change of ownership a few years ago.

Accounts are still held in local branches so delivery will still be made through this network so it does fall apart from time to time.

There are many parts in the JP Classic Line that ECP just don't offer so we have started to import form alternative German Wholesale suppliers.

Sadly it is a bit of a muddle.
