Trip To Italy (with Le Mans thrown in)

As the engine rebuild is mostly done and dusted now, I thought I would post a bit about the trip to Italy I've sandwiched between the Le Mans events.
We set off Thursday morning from New Haven to Dieppe, careful packing meaning that 3 weeks worth of clothes fitted in no problem. The cars I was travelling with did have a slight cylinder advantage though...
We tripped down on the old route stopping off in Gace for the obligatory omelette. We then made it to the Gitte in good health ( via a large lightning storm) again my lack of power was slightly highlighted, but when the owner of a fleet of gorgeous cars is fascinated by my little squashed beetle it was quite nice.
It was then to the race, which I'm sure if you watched it you would agree it was heart breaking at the end. I did manage to stay out till 6am watching though, the pace of the LMP1's through the corners at night still making me giggle
And now, after a good bye to those heading to Blighty (and winning the Spirit of Le Mans award for the trip for returning a year after disastrous break down and recovery not only with a new engine bit aiming for Italy) I find myself at the wonderful Hotel de France, trying to play it cool next to D. Bell. My other half arrives tonight and we have a bit of time to relax before heading down to Chamonix
