Cayenne 3.2

Post by Burma-Shave »

Hi, strangely we seem to be in the market for a Cayenne. Yes, there are 700 on autotrader, but just in case anyone thinking of selling, specifically a:

3.2 Tip
Pre March 06 (Road tax hike cut off)
Blue (lapis), Green (teal), or possibly silver
Interior anything but black
Air suspension
Towbar, preferably factory
Price 7-8.5k pounds

There is just the one in Glasgow, but frustratingly it has a 45k mile hole in the service history.

Cheers!

Thought most people reckon the v8 is the one to have ... Not much different fuel economy compared to the 3.2 yet way nicer to drive

I ran a 2006 3.2 for eighteen months. Buy a V8.....

Our ownership spanned from 62,000 to 85,000, in that time we had to replace

Propshaft
Coil Packs
Cam Sensors
Flywheel sensor
Abs Sensor
And have the valve block in the gearbox rebuilt.....

Bore scoring on V8s.

I also need a slower car tbh. I am going to end up in prison if I keep driving the 6T :-/

That list of issues applies to both v6 and v8 too. Going in with my eyes open as they say.

Well thats annoying, I had managed to fill the FSH gaps on the Glasgow car via some top sleuthing, and we had arranged to see it on Sunday..but it has sold to a chap in Belfast. Someone on here I wonder..

Makes me realise how few cars meet my criteria.. :( every other car is grey or black on black. And on steel springs and 22's. Bleh.

Nice enough for a 4x4, handling a revelation given the size and weight. Power OK when wife and kids were in the car but a bit lacking when towing or trying to press on.

Thanks Jon. The power in V6s does seem 'sufficient' in alot of the reports I read, and they seem to sound quite nice from stock too.. and there is some joy in pressing on in an underpowered but well handling car.

Maybe I need to broaden my search to include Turbos though, the mpg difference wont add up to much for my use, and they all have air, as opposed to the minority of 3.2s. And I guess it wouldn't bend space-time in quite the same way as the 996 Turbo does, so my licence might be safe(r).

Not sure you need to go as far as a Turbo they do drink fuel, the regular V8 would be fine.

If I remember correctly it was a Turbo and he was selling it before he replaced it with a Macan. Pretty sure he sold it.

Cayenne Twin turbos...I think you be surprised. They are very quick if you hold the pedal down, especially if it's already on the move...
They always sound angry about something as well.

I loved owning mine, didn't catch any big bills.
But they are capable of generating genuinely upsetting invoices

That said If you make good use of indy garages they are not too bad.
Any prestige car marque has its foibles and there is a cost to running an older £70-80K vehicle
As you said your eyes are wide open!

Good luck with the search
