Seemingly a constant in my years calendar is ‘Wheels Day’ organised by the Surrey Street Rodders. And now we’ve got to the 42nd event. Time flies.
But the Rushmoor show is usually a nice affair. And all for charity.
The SSR now require pre-registration for cars on display and that allows some vetting of the type of vehicles attending. The show field is capped at 1,000 cars and whilst the venue can take more I believe the organisers think that’s quite enough, thank you. The MoD own the land and they don’t make life easy for the rodders. Some of the access road were blocked by the military this year and so it’s very much one road in, one road out. That resulted in the usual horrendous queuing on the surrounding roads. I arrived early and swept straight in but by Midday it was uncomfortable getting in. I don’t think there’s an easy answer. Overall the car parking, the collection of entry fees and general staffing (mostly volunteers) was superb. Well done SSR.
Take a look...
