fuel tank

my fuel tank is unconnected.
having a look at it there is a drain plug, also two connectors 1 is blanked off the other has a rusty mesh filter which corresponds to what I assume is the fuel hose to the fuel pump/carbs.
tank looks fairly clean inside not too much rust. I plan to blank up all the holes and swish through with petrol and see if any leaks, and use soda electrolysis to clean up the mesh filter
My questions are
1. is there a fuel return pipe as well, as can only find a feed. (later 911s have a return pipe)
2. is it worth trying to replace the hoses although that looks like it might be a right PITA
3. Is there a way of adding in an in line filter between tank and fuel pump or is this overkill
what have others done when replacing a tank or recommissioning?
4. how is it actually attached? there is a screw hole towards the front in the forward floor pan, but cant see any other anchor points . Is there a gasket or seal between the tank and floor pan
Does anyone now if there is a manual to tell me how the car was put together, anything like the Bentley manuals for 911s?

Thanks in advance
Andrew
