DDK - Die Deutschen Klassiker

I am hoping to get clarification of the correct sill trims that would have been on my car.

Car is a 1973 E. Looking at the COA there is nothing mentioned stating any option fit so the trim will be the std for the model year. I am sure in one of the books I have it states that the trim fitted in 73 was the same all chrome style similar to the S trim that was an option for 72 cars.

Porsche are advising me my car would have been supplied with the small chrome moulding either the rubber insert in the moulding.

I don't think this is correct, any pictures I manage to find of 73 cars have the s style trim.

Can anyone offer some advice and clear up the issue.

Hi Tom

You will need the deeper sill trim covering the entire sill depth with the rubber insert. You will require front and rear end caps.
If it helps I have a NOS set of sill trims available and I might have the end caps but not sure if they are new.

Not saying it's correct however I can't find a photo of an E with anything other than the wide trim?

It just shows how convinced we were, and yet, it turns out today is yet another school day. Thanks for persevering Tom. It looks like OPC Glasgow were correct. Whodathowtit.
I've checked the period brochure. Photos to follow when photobucket sorts itself out.
So the question now is Tom, which ones are you going to fit? Will you be fitting the standard cookie cutters too?

Darren, I am the same, nearly all the pictures I can find online show the 73 E with wide trim.

Mike, I know the cookie cutters are definitely not going on!

Porsche Glasgow have agreed to send up the wide trim on sale or return to let me compare both side by side, in all honesty I think I will go for the wide trim. My car had as an option the stainless steel exhaust skirt and I think the wider trim will complement this.

Original 2.4 brochure



On one of the first inside pages two models side by side, the E with its standard cookie cutters and narrow trim on front spoiler, sills and rear quarters. The black trim on the indicators would suggest MY 73. The gold targa next to it has the wider trim all round and standard 6 inch Fuchs.

We're not discussing period correct stuff on DDK are we

...and you can bet the cars in the brochure are early MY cars, or older ones mocked up so probably don't represent actual production anyway...
