Hey all,

Best wishes for the season!

I need to get my car off its suspension and onto a trolley so I can strip the suspension parts and have them blasted and coated.

I see lots of different trolley designs on here and elsewhere. Most seem to have the car just sitting on its floor, others of course are rotisserie types. I think some also bolt to the suspension locations?

What are the recommendations for a typical restoration. My car will be with the same team for painting as for bodywork so it does not have to go on a trailer, just be rolled between buildings on the same site. So I'm thinking a basic platform would be fine?

Designs/measurements would be brilliant of course! I am hoping I can get a trolley made for me by students at my local FE college!

Mine was based around what ever box section I had lying around. The rear is cupped around the beam and the front sits on the flat bit at the front of the floorplan.
I went for one like this as it was the easiest design to get the shell on and off of and you can bolt lots of things back on without it getting in the way. It also allows me to get it on and off the rotisserie in around 5-10 mins.

One mistake I made was to only have two swivel wheels, go for 4. I've changed that now and it makes the thing way easier tp move around.

This is similar to what I had. Worked pretty well.

Last time I spoke to him, Barry Carter had made some lovely laser-cut brackets that bolt onto the rear suspension to provide a much smaller, neater stand. Might be worth checking to see if he has any available.
