Ive noticed pelican parts sell an extra long tie rod for the turbo tie road conversion on early 911's.

Anyone know if we can get something similar in the UK? From what ive read fitting the standard turbo tie rods to the rack will mean only a few threads in the rack. Is this BS? If it matters is a 73T

just thinking between the lines, the turbo tie rods, are just ball and socket, and are the same as fitted to millions of cars, from mk2 golfs, to vw T4's and T'5. If there not available in the UK it seems that it might be something along those line to build a kit

The only issue with Turbo Ties Rod length is with SWB cars with the shorter steering rack and the early bolt on steering arm.

You are correct you end up with about 2 threads engaged.

Elephant Racing used to sell a longer TRE for about $100 each!! and a well know UK specialist sold a standard TRE with a nut MIG welded on to extend them !!!!

You can fit a longer tie rod from a Hyundai and a Transit Gaiter but we have longer TREs in stock that work with standard Lemoerder Turbo Tie Rods, Rack Stops and Gaiters. The TREs we supply are £16.00 each.

With a 1973 car you only need a standard Turbo Tie Rod kit. There are two qualities of kit available.

A 'budget set' and a Lemfoerder Kit which is OE. We only use Lemfoerder.

I'm out of the country at the moment and need to check with my man Johnny but think we used Rover 200/400. Any others that can confirm this? Needless to say they were as cheap as chips.

So for a SWB i can buy the lemforder kit, and then Fetuhoe, give you a call and get the correct arms at £16 EACH plus P&P, im writing this for the benefit of everyone reading as...i have a LWB and it seems the kit i bought a few months ago, but never got rounds to fitting (planned for xmas) will fit fine =))

Thats good for me, it was a great upgrade on my old SC, probally one of the best i did, with super slick and tight steering after.

The Tie Rods are standard Lemfoerder so they work with the Turbo Gaiter and the large washer used to prevent over travel.

It is the TRE that we change.

Early Rover does fit and the cheapest one's you can but are around a Fiver + VAT each and last about as long as a chocolate teapot.

First Line are better at about a Tenner each and we buy Delphi which we have never had problem with - and I should have typed £15.00
