Classic LeMans 2016 - Camping at the circuit

Finally got some options for DDK camping at the circuit 8) I've not decided on my preference yet although I do feel 'we' as a club could give ourselves a more club feel to whichever campsite we choose by creating a social area and possibly an organised Barbque one night

I've created a poll too :)

Option 1 :

Cost approx : £130 pp based on 2 in a car ( £173 single ) incl all tickets etc

Camping at Bleu Nord on the public site as last year. All DDK camped together in numbered pitches but this time we will have an area of 4 camping plots left clear in the middle to allow gazeebos to be erected ( we would have to supply these ourselves ) and see if we can create our own DDK social gathering point and possibly group barb-que one night ( this will need to be organised between us all somehow ).

Bleu Nord is close enough to both the circuit & Arnage to walk easilly.

Option 2 :

Cost approx : £135 pp based on 2 in a car ( £180 single) incl all tickets etc

Camping at the new site of Epinettes, located across the road from Houx Annex. Site is surrounded by trees so should be sheltered etc but non numbered pitches so we would have to try & get an area taped off in advance., if we couldn't then we'd have to make sure we are there early enough on Thursday to grab some land :) We could also do the same as BN and have a central socialising area. Bit of a longer walk into the circuit and the wrong side for Arnage etc. but could be worth trying ?

Option 3 :

Cost approx : £275 pp based on 2 in a car ( £465 single) incl all tickets etc

Premier Vert is a new exclusive site with limited pitches, located on the edge of the bugatti circuit down near the football stadium ( on the 1st map in this thread it is located at the "E12" point , so close to the live track but not on it. Current plans are tents only on site & cars all parked in secure and guarded fenced parking area in the stadium car park. ......

"Premier Vert would have exclusive facilities and security. If it was just for the club, then we would aim to have a parking area within the site rather than elsewhere. However, the club would have to commit to the whole site for at least 60 cars." ... not sure we would get 60 cars so we would share the site.

Option 4 :

If there is going to be 20 ddk cars or less then there is a possibility we can get onto Maison Blanche ... 2014 we had 50 cars so this looks unlikely

All comments welcome :)

James, dont fancy the Premiere Vert especially if the cars have to be parked away form you. Blue Nord seems the better option although last time, we did seem to be somewhat spread out and open to everything.

I'm easy and will go with the general consensus.........hate camping anyway!

FWIW, I also think Bleu Nord is probably favourite and a central meeting/chillin' area that everybody commits too will be the difference that makes it a lot more sociable; probably the same with the new site although could be very hit and miss if we're unlucky with pitches?

As ever James, really appreciate the work you put into this :)

First of all I appreciate the time and effort you put into this James! I agree on the central socialising area. I'm easy and will go with the flow.

Cheers

Totally agree with Magnus. Thanks for taking the time to do this James.

Trouble for me is my car won't be ready so unless other cars would be welcome in the group, I'm still not sure whether I will attend. Always loved the sound of CLM so loved to do this one year for sure.

BTW, based on your description, I like the sound of BN

Thanks again.

Loz

All ddkers are welcome what ever car they are in :) .... Or a lot of times you might find someone I is willing to share costs and have a passenger seat free .... You can fit 2 tents on a pitch easily enough ;)

As a CLM novice, I'm happy to follow the consensus.
If it helps I have a 4.5m square 'event shelter' which makes a pretty decent day-tent when camping. With a group.
It'll be two of us in my 911

I've voted for BN. The camping is a lot about what WE make it. Obviously it helps if we are lounging around in shorts drinking cold beer, rather than shivering in tents worrying about the river that appears to be flowing under the ground sheet.
Epinettes sounds like a bit of a bun fight, and the other one too expensive, especially for singletons.
Once again, thanks James for your efforts.

And well done for getting it all together - are tickets on sale, or are you ahead of the game?

edit - ah okay i see tickets on sale now, awesome. I'm ready to book when its nailed down. Blue or Green is fine by me.

Bleu Nord it is :)

Lets try and get the CLM DDK atmosphere and excitment working :)

Central social area .. event shelters welcome if you can fit them in cars

We will plan on a group barbque on Fri evening ( might have to rely on people bring barbeques )

Return of the early Friday DDK photoshoot at the 2nd chicane 8)

Mass pilgrimage Sat night to Arnage / Indi ( although for those that don't know this area is currenlty being redeveloped and the banking has gone !!!! .. we'll know by the 24hr what its going to be like )
