How do I set the floats on a Weber carburettor

Car: 1968 911
How do I set the floats on the associated Weber carburettor (40IDT3C1)? Ideally a link to the info on the web would be ideal.
The floats have 25.5 stamped on them, I assume this is a gap measurement.
Any assistance would be appreciated.

Stampings like that on Weber floats usually refers to the weight. At least it does on 48IDAs.

You'll need a float level gauge which looks like this.
It comes with the copper washers you'll need but I think you'll have to send to the States for one. Pelican have them.

The stamping is the float's weight in grammes.

The tool you reference above, do you know the measurements from the center of the connection to the first and second line? I'll have a go at making one.

Morning, as you can see there are 4 rings around the body of the gauge. The lower mark is 25mm from the centerline of the screw. Then a gap of 2mm and the second mark, then a gap of 6mm and the third mark and then another 2mm and the top mark.
Err... like this.
Top mark
2mm
3rd mark
6mm
2nd mark
2mm
1st mark
25mm
Centre line of screw.
All measured with a caliper, all nice round numbers.
If you're going to have at go making one, Precision Matters in the States make a gauge for Zenith NDIX carbs from which you might take inspiration.
