Calling on the years of technical expertise here, what's the max practical compression on a 2.4s without going to twinplugs heads?

Depends on a number of other factors (eg fuel quality) but usually reckoned to be anything above ~ 10:1 CR will benefit from twin-plugs ...

I was told by Neil Bainbridge that I could run my current motor on single plug & I'm at 10.3:1 ... proviso its set up correctly. Think he regularly builds 2.4S motors at 10:1 on stockj ignition, but as Andy says' there is no rule with these things

Thanks guys - James your rebuild thread was part of the inspiration for my engine spec so the fact Neil suggests it could run single plug is interesting.

I've not yet run it on single plug though, so can't confirm if things would be ok. Would be best to speak to Neil direct or speak to some other builders who've build engines like this
