DDK - Die Deutschen Klassiker

Hi all

its been a while since I updated so I thought Id post a few pics. Firstly can I give a big thanks to Richard 'Moggy' Morgan for kindly pressing my new bearings in to my trailing arms for me. Cheers Richard I own you one:-).

Front headlights are in as are the motors


Front washer assembly is in and Ive fitted a couple of the air boxes at the front. I wont do the centre blower till I start to put the dash in so I can fit the cable pulls properly. I wanted to leave that as late as possible but I suspect Ill have to put the dash in and protect it in some way.



Bits and bobs in the cabin main thing is the centre tunnel (hateful thing) now has all the cables and brake line fed through ad connected



Engine bay starting to take shape (focussing on the brake lines, nearly finished them in there. Ive also assembled the engine lid obviously not putting that on till a lot later.



Finally the trailing arms, and rear suspension are on, including brake assembly. Callipers are temporary Ill change them out. These are the ones I had refurbished a couple of years ago and they are quite shocking, Ive only used them to get the brake lines the right length.



So thats my front and rear suspension finished, most of the brakes done... next - mmm good question, I think Im going to get my front wiring loom out and start to run that through and connect the front components. Not sure if theres a more sensible order but if anyone can spot anything obvious feel free to let me know:-)

I've just bought a 914 (haven't got it yet) and it is a bit of a project.

You haven't by any chance got a picture of the fuel tank bay without the fuel tank in have you? Where does the 'letterbox' go to in the spare wheel well?

This will be one very cool car, keep the updates coming

it is a bit of a marmite colour but when the black and chrome trim go back on to it Im positive its going to look very nice indeed. I quite like the fact the orange can look quite bright in sunlight and then a bit more subtle when the lights not that good.... a 2 for 1 paint job:-)

As far as chippings concerned I managed to pop my cherry on my first job taking with a socket on the front inner wheel arch:-( Ill get the car to the point where all the main bits are done and ask body chap Matt to go over all the bits Ive managed to hamfistingly catch.

I had my fist go in a 914 yesterday i met up with Helen and her husband who live quite close to me while I was visiting the classic bike show at Stafford ground and she offered me a quick go... well it would have been rude not to:-) thank you Helen that made my week:-)

Right going to crack on with the wiring next hoping I can figure out how to convert the spaghetti of a loom I made in to a working electrical system... all good fun!

Actually I need a battery.... any one got any particular recommendations here? Gel or standard?

My pleasure. Hopefully give you the encouragement to get your car finished and on the road. Can't wait to see it. I really love signal orange.
Regarding the DDK grill badge. I ment to say rather than bending the grill slightly so you can fit the lugs through, an alternative is to remove the lugs and drill through the badge so you can bolt it onto the grill. I always put a bit of rubber behind the badge to stop it damaging the grill.
