Hi, today I mocked up the outer sill and there is a gap at the bottom of the kidney, its a 74 so have the smaller kidney bowls not the "L" shaped one and the outer sill is the 96550340201GRV type , I know the holes along the sides need welding up but is there any other mods to make it fit around the kidney bowl? sorry no pics
Thanks
Mark

The Porsche sill panel is from a 964 so designed to fit the later L shaped kidney panel, therefore you will need to reshape it slightly for a good fit against your earlier panel.

Mark, Is that outer sill a genuine Porsche part or a Dansk piece of s--t ? Have just dropped in to collect one I ordered from OPC but it is the 993 sill and wrong. I don't mind paying the OPC price if it actually fits !! Its for 78 model SC coupe.
cheers
Ian

As far as I knew they only sell the 993 one now and you have to modify it (cut/hammer out the indentations and weld up the extra holes)
I used all OPC parts and was still surprised at the tweakery that was required from the outer sill to the kidney bowl

Hmmm it looks like they have supplied the wrong part because this one had no pressing at the rear to dress around the kidney bowl. It just ends as if somebody has sawn the end off and the general profile was also wrong. So 993.503.962.00 GRV definite wrong part. Have e.mailed them with that part number off Mark's post so lets see what they come up with in the morning. Put the number into Google and there is a good illustration on a website called Stoddards. I just can't face another nightmare trying to fit a Dansk one...unless they have suddenly improved ??

You should have a 965 part number for the sill, which needs modifying as described by Sladey.

Just one more question for when I eventually get the correct outer sill. At the horizontal front edge of the sill [ where it meets the the door hinge pillar] there is a little support plate which I think comes as part of the pillar. Well, mine has come off when I removed the sill and I think it was incomplete as there was a hole that was body caulked up. I would appreciate a picture of this little plate so I can fabricate a new one. When the sill is on, do you just flood in a bit of braze to seal the gap or just spot mig and force some flexible sealer into the joint ? The sill I removed had been fitted early on in the cars life due to side damage so I couldn't see what held the original sill on.
Any help appreciated

Is this the part you are thinking of...? If so, there are good images on this site.

I just marked the location on the B post once the outer sill is where you want it. Tack it to the post and plug weld through the top of the sill.
