Rubber seal glue removal

Hi
What is the best thing to use to remove a little excess rubber seal glue? It looks like when a new bonnet rubber was fitted, a little squeezed out over the paint and is visible. I want to be careful not to mess the paint up - have seen a couple of threads suggesting white spirit and more aggressive glue cleaners but wasn't sure if they were "paint safe".
Any recommendations and experience appreciated.
Thanks
Feroz

i'd probally use brake cleaner. Ive actually washed cars with brake cleaner, its fine on paint - but at your own risk okay! The only time ive had it take paint off is over something like halfords aerasol paint, never "proper" painted cars. Im sure a tar and glue remover would work fine too (funny that), you can probaly get it at halfords. I have some and use it to remove stickers etc, so its also fine for paint. Your own risk of course!

I've seen a few different glue removers and they state the type of glue they work on but not sure what glue has been used hence my question. I have some tar remover so will give that a go first.
All my own risk of course.
Thanks

You could also try white spirit. Works well on most sticky stuff.

Hi Feroz
Petrol...used it to get all the old adhesive off my engine bay sound pad which was stuck....paint was fine afterwards

Hi Mate
I'd also say white spirit, or I have some very good panel-wipe that works well on this sort of thing. Bring it over one evening?
