I believe that womble912, on here, recently got his solexes refubed. Sorry I can't remember the name of the company now but his engine is being rebuilt by Chris Turner and I'm sure that Chris recommended the place so call him/message him. http://www.christurner.com/. I'm sure that PRS will do this type of work too. They are based in Essex.

Personally, I had an awfull experience with carb exchange, check out my Solex threads if you are interested. They "fully rebuilt" my Solex's around 4 years ago. When I got them back they looked a very good standard but the machining operation they had done caused fuel to leak from the castings making them impossible to set up properly. It was so bad that it was emptying the entire float chamber contents within 5 mins. They were leaking fuel directly into the intake tract so that the car was running very rich and would not restart. They did try to repair them but it never worked.

They reckoned that all thier rebuilds are bench tested and set up to ensure they are 100%. This was clearly not my experience. I may have been unlucky but I ended up wasting a load of cash on the rebuild and the subsequent tuning / diagnostics. Worst of all, I ultimately had to replace the solexes with a set of new Weber 40 IDFs in a specific 912 conversion kit, which was then rejetted by a local Weber expert to suit my car.

This was certainly not my preference from either a cost or an originality point of view as I also had to lose the period Knecht air filters. However, the carburation is now properly sorted and the car runs as sweet as a nut.

The Solexes are boxed up and in storage.

Carbs are back but as yet untested but I can report that the cosmetics are as new and better than I have seen with other previous refurbs from different sources. Packing was superb and the cost was very, very reasonable.

It is worth mentioning that the cost included a full repaint and re-plate of the air cleaners and carb bases.
