DDK - Die Deutschen Klassiker

Hi All,

Currently running a 996 GT3 (owned for 3 1/2 yrs) and previously owned 993 C2S (8 yrs) but increasingly finding myself looking at the older stuff in the Classifieds. Particularly enjoyed the Classics at the Castle event last September drooling over some stunning cars.

I know it's not everyone's cup of tea but would love an RSR / RS replica (originals well out of my budget now).

I currently do 1 or 2 track days a year but enjoy road trips such as the Le Mans Classic more. Would love to drive down there in a lairy RS!

Will hopefully make it along to some of your events this year to find out more about the early cars. I am based near Rochester, Kent.

mine feed me differently. I don't think the GT3 is a particularly good road car. Oh of course on that rare ribbon of twisting smooth tarmac, it's a weapon but how often do you REALLY come across that without the drone of mway or rubbish roads pre and post? The older cars are of course slower etc but completely different; more fluid; more feelgood, more mechanical.

As you note, there can be a compromise between the 2 - see the other thread where chap is looking for an ST rep. Alan @ CXanford's "Thunder road" is at the lairy end of the scale and as others state I believe being made ore "habitable" (ear drums bleed currently).

My brother Dan's hot rod and darren's Mongrel are good examples of a compromise car- the cache of a classic with usabilkity, speed and safety more akin to more modern cars.

Welcome to DK - plenty of owners on here will advise and assist. You might even find soimeone willing to show you theirs if you tell us where you are based.

Welcome to DDK. My own Carrera 3.0RS tribute (you can't call either of these cars replicas) is for sale, at a substantially lower price than the Autofarm car. Mine has had a similar restoration done, but has a 3.5 motor with 320 bhp, 6 and 4 pot brakes and modern Recaros for safety and comfort (the standard passenger seat is fitted here as I had a lard arsed passenger at Classic Le Mans last year).

How much are you selling it for Nick ?
