My name is David and I live in Essex, UK . I currently own a 2006 997 3.8 C2s cab and just acquired a 1969 912 LWB 5spd which I am waiting to arrive from the US. The 912 is nice and interesting not only for me but I hope fellow owners and drivers. It is a one owner California black plate car and not only the original colour 6835-L (912Registry states 1 of only 5) but almost entirely the original (first) paint. Nice clean and dry (thats California for you) drives, runs through the gears and stops as it should. Unfortunately she will not be in the UK for 6-8 weeks. In the meantime I would like to try and find out as much as possible about the car and would appreciate any interest you may have or suggestions for resources to help me out. What I do know is the she was born in Stuttgart in March 1969 and delivered to Pacific Porsche in LA. She was sold to the guy that I acquired it from (the delivery note and current title match) and stayed in LA its entire life. I have applied fo the CoA but any pointers are greatly appreciated. Thanks D

Hi David. Welcome to DDK. I expect you'll find all the answers to any questions you may have on here - lots of knowledgeable, friendly folks on DDK. The Pelican Parts and Early S forums are also pretty good. There's a 912 Registry too, but I've yet to check it out.

Your car sounds nice. I'm sure people will be interested to see photos of it.

Welcome to DDK David

nice looking '12 you have there - I bet you are looking forward to it arriving.

Hopefully the CoA will confirm details on the car although they aren't the most reliable...

Welcome. Have a look at the 912 bbs web site / forum. It has vin tables and lots of knowledge 912ers. Although your car will not be here in time. Come along to Stanford Hall on the first Sunday in May where we will have 20 912s from each year of production. See the thread on here.

Welcome to the club, I think this means I am no longer the newest newbie!

Car looks lovely, hopefully it will be here and registered ready for the summer, I'd adjust the insurance on the 997 as it's not going to see much use now.

The chaos on here know plenty more than me, and are very willing to help.

Tom

Hi David,

Welcome to the forum. I've just taken delivery of my 1969 912 a couple of weeks ago. I'm based just outside of Cambridge and am also learning fast about these cars.

Mine is getting an MOT while I wait to register it at the DVLA. Pleased to report no real issues, car is as it was described. It has been owned by the same lady since 72 who kept al the paperwork which was a bonus :)

I'd say get the three books that are mentions on here and read up while you wait for yours to arrive !!!

Thanks for the Info. I got my CofA today and everything stacks up, receiving dealer (which ties to my original 1969 sales delivery docket).
Colour (Olive 6835)is as stated and VIN and engine number tie as in my photobucket album and all the options are there.

It was produced in Stuttgart and looks to be one of the last 150 built there, as the last VIN looks like 12900428] produced in July 1969. The Karman factory looks to have built 3483 912's in the same period. Happy to be corrected being new to using the various resources out there. Still in transit from LA unfortunately :(
