All,

I got 90 per cent of the way to removing the engine from my 66 today (using the 101 things to do to your Porsche" book).....but I am a bit flummoxed as to how on gods earth you can undo the top bolt attaching the gearbox to the engine. I am not a long limbed contortionist with periscope vision......can anyone explain to me the best approach to this and the best tool combo for the job? Once off, is there a top tip to coax the gearbox off the engine or should it come away easily?

You take the engine and box out as a unit.
Then, on the floor split the two by undoing the 4 M8 nuts, the starter motor having a tube nut, has to be undone using a 10mm af Allen key, other 3 are 19 or17mm af nuts.

The two usually split very easily.
Iirc there is a trick with the early clutches, best google that bit!
