Hi

thought I would post up a few pictures of my latest purchase and work so far.

I've been a member on here for ages but not very active. As with many people started off in the VW Scene and after countless Beetles, the odd bus and type 3 I've made the leap to the Stuttgart connection.

After selling my 65 Supercharged Beetle (pic below) I started looking for a 912. After viewing about 6 over here that were simply overpriced, falsely advertised rubbish, and being VERY close to buying several over in the states, I literally stumbled across a 912 down at Paul Stephens. Went to view it and Paul did me a good deal and the rest is history.

I'm not going to be getting mega anal about originality on this car (mainly because I don't think my bank account could cope!) but also because it's MY car and after all - it's just a car to have some fun with.

When I bought it I knew that it had some issues with the floor pans (not too nasty though - I'd seen far worse on my travels for far more money!) - and a few other little bits that would be MOT failures etc...

as it was at Paul Stephens

Since I got the car in early January i've chopped out all the rot in the floors and welded in new panels.

Got rid of all the old horse hair sound deadening material (lovely job!)

Rebuilt all the brake callipers / new hoses etc... (car has been sat for a few years unused)

Replaced the front seats with some BF Torinos with tilt bases

Engine out to replace flywheel oil seal, pushrod tubes, crank pulley seal, oil pump gaskets, rebuilt carbs

Replaced all the gear shift linkage bushings (what a difference!!!)

New throttle linkage bushings etc.....

Blaupunkt from Chrome London

Titled up the engine tin ware

General service etc....

123Ignition Distributor

Lowered at the front and rear a little (not as low as the last beetle!)

New rear spring plate bushes

4 wheel laser alignment (perk of working in the motor trade)

Momo Prototipo with one of manuel's horn buttons

and the bug that had to go to make room for the 912. Gone but not forgotten!

just got to say big thank you to Chris at Fenn Lane Motorsport who's local to me for LOADS of tips and advise and also to Max at Revival for being so helpful and SOOOOOOOOOO much more efficient than the other parts supplier I had been using prior to discovering Max!

would be nice but the bug ones are only any good up to 1200cc and would be a nightmare to make work with twin carbs

thanks all

I've managed to pick up a set of 5 of the 951 alloy space savers (how light are they!!!?!??!?!) so will put those on for a bit but definitely keeping the steelies too.

some longer studs and nice new nuts and hopefully will look a bit different. Really wanted Fuchs on it but
1) mega bucks
2) they're everywhere at the moment

so - one quick photoshop later
