DDK - Die Deutschen Klassiker

I have seen a few old posts asking for pictures of Braid's BZ Fuchs replica wheels and could not find any. After much deliberation and unsuccesful experimentation with cast alloy replicas, I reached the point where I had to make a decision:

Buy a set of originals and pay to have them detailed or Buy a set of Braid's competition spec replicas.

Having some good experience of Braid's competition rims, I decided to go with the new replicas. I ordered 6 x 15 ET 35's in Braids RSR finish and I have fitted them up with 185 x 70 x HR15 Vredestien Sprint Classics. I am pretty pleased with how they have worked out and thought fellow DDKers may be interested in how they look as I just could not find any images of their 6" rims in RSR finish.

So here ye go.

Great looking wheels Davie.Thought the Braid wheels had a different lip profile to original Fuchs, did they change the design?
Interior upgrades work well too.

They do still have a wee edge on the rim but I was expecting it to be more pronounced. Not sure if they have changed the style. I beleive the centre and back is forged and the outer rim is welded on so its possible they have tweaked them. Alternatively, it may be the satin silver anodised finish that makes it it look less pronounced? Ive never seen any others in the flesh so cant say for sure.

I have to say that Im pretty chuffed with them, they are also much lighter than the cast 4.5" replicas I had on the car, that is despite them having 165s versus 185 x 70s

where did you buy them from? Was it design 911?
these look interesting, are they the right offset? 15" Competition Fuchs 7.0J ET+23

They were supplied by Demon Tweeks who are a Braid agent. They also supplied and fitted the tyres. I spoke to design 911 but they were not competetive.

I used genuine centre caps and black nuts.

They are 6" wide, ET35 offset. I doubt You could get 7" on a flatside SWB car without them fouling.

What is the finish, are they painted or anodised?

The satin black is obviously painted, all the communications stated anodised, Not sure how to confirm this but the silver area does not look like a painted finish.

My only disappointment is the position of the valve holes, which although consistent on all 4 is a "bit random"

The supplier has confirmed, via Braid in Spain that the wheels are anodised.

RSR is a misdescription, the RSR rims have a matt finish to the spoke and upstand, and a gloss finish to the rim edge. Your rims would be correctly described as standard early detailed finish. That said, they look good apart from the appalling valve positioning, that would drive me mad.

Wow, they look half good to be honest... I had seen the other make you mentioned and I have not been too impressed but those sir do look good.. I noticed the valve being in the most oddest of places I wouldn't have lighted it and would have had to have added a black plastic cap so it's just not standing out. But for the price, well.. yeah I could be tempted to get some for the 66 nice...
