Hi from Dublin

Hello guys,

I bumped into this great forum while doing some research to hopefully find my next car. I'm into Porsches, however never owned an aircooled one so far... I currently drive a 987.2 Cayman S after owning a 997.1S and two Boxsters S 987.1 and 986.

So far I'm inclined for getting a 85' (or earlier) 911 manual coupe. It wont be a daily as it will be joining my garage alongside the Cayman. She doesn't have to be mint, I've no color preference and no rush: a project car would fit the bill as well. My goal is to have a enjoyable car for the weekends, something to work on, tweak and improve along the way!

I'm based in a little town 40 mins drive north of Dublin.

Cheers

HI Welcome from Northern Ireland. I've two cars might suit you - sort of for sale - sort of not. I can PM you if you want? I'm off on the PCI WAW drive tour in May in my '85 911 Carrera ('73 RSR) - are you going?

Hello again guys,

Long time not speak! An update: I finally pulled the trigger on a Minerva Blue 80 SC coupe. Got it for my bday and just started driving her earlier this month; saying that I'm very glad of getting this particular one would be an under statement, I'm enjoying it so much! As you all know there's always room for improvement but so far I got rid of the stereo, installed a Wevo shifter, a Momo Prototipo along with RS door cards.

The engine pulls nicely however I think the suspension needs a full refresh (struts, torsion bars, bushes, you name it!) also would like to change all the bushings on the gearbox linkage to help improve the feel. I'm thinking of getting the updated ignition unit with front and rear fuse panels (form Classic Retrofit), plus better headlights and somehow get my hands on better instruments lights.

Your views on the the above and suggestions in terms of places to get them done here in Ireland are much appreciated. Here she is:
