DDK - Die Deutschen Klassiker

Hi all,

Not sure what happened but I now own a 1970 911E Sporto. It wasn't registered til 1975, spent 10 years on the road then the next 35 in a garage. It kind of fell into my lap so I couldn't turn it down. Not quite sure what i'm thinking with a working class income but we'll see how I get on, always wanted one. It will join the ranks of my rouge collection -

Back in Jan/Feb of last year someone I used to work with mentioned that his wifes uncle had past away and left a 911 in his garage. I spent the next year thinking about it every day and trying to buy it. A year on everything came together and I confirmed a price and had it on my drive within the week.
I believe the Uncle was wheelchair bound and the accelerator is on the left side of the brake at the moment. I think he became unable to drive it and put it in the garage where it stayed until last year. I also think but can't confirm that his wife had a matching one at one time.
Its still got a Porsche club programme from 1983 for the blackpool weekender in the glovebox.

Although the rear 1/4 panels, front wings, lower doors, lower A pillar, sills and inner front arches near the A pillar are all gone the main bulk seems very solid.

Looks like it'll be fun project, high income is not a prerequisite of 911 ownership. You'll get tons of great advice and support here. Looking forward to more info and pictures.

Once done, you'll be able to apply for a correct '70 plate if you want (tax free) although if the 75 plate is the 1st plate it had its an interesting part of its history

Lucky bugger! Excessively minted or dirt poor, both start with a project. It's the passion and creativity along the way that make it yours, not the size of your paycheque!

Thanks everyone. First and only things i've done to it so far have been to strip the interior out to make sure its dry inside and remove the fuel tank.
What are peoples opinions on trying to start an engine thats been sitting for this long without dropping it out first. It turns ok.

Check / change points. Refresh fuel, put a battery on it, check fuel supply with ignition on, crank with no ignition , check the oil light goes out, listen for any thing odd assuming sounds ok apply ignition ...start her up. Check gauge responses battery voltage etc and as it warms up check oil level. I'm sure theres more but its great to hear a car run again..A few years ago I fired up a targa that looked fit only for the skip, it took a few turns and some easy start then a spare fuel pump plumbed in on the fragile lines but she fired up with good pressures no problems. Do it !!
