UK gauge repairs?

Guys,

Fully aware of North Hollywood speedo and a few others in the States but are there any recommended gauge repair/resto places for Porsche gauges in the UK at all please?

I've an issue with the speedo and the combined oil temp/fuel gauge.

The speedo works fine, apart from the mileage clock. When i stripped it down, i could see that the worm gear which drives the mileometer had been bent up slightly so it didnt contact and drive the mile clock. It appears the mechanism is frozen, hence why it probably had been bent up. On attempting to bend it straight, part of it snapped off...am wondering if i can get this part repaired/replaced. The speedo was cheap at $75 (i can see why now) but by the time I've sent it to North Hollywood, they've done their thing and sent it back, i could have bought another one......

The second issue is the fuel/oil temp gauge. Agaun, bought in the knowledge it needed some resto work which im not scared of but seems someone has been in before and the fuel gauge is not right... needle sits in completely the wrong place. Have tried to source a new fuel gauge part to swap out the one i have but have had no luck....

The search facility is your friend, it's a subject that is discussed again and again.

Thanks Nick.

I did use the search funtion but 'gauge' & 'repairs' are perhaps a touch too generic it would seem. A lot of results from those two...

I shall continue searching

I had the same issue and wasn't happy to use a "local" restorer after reading some indifferent reviews on DKK - I'm not saying that the guys in the UK couldn't do a great job but I just thought get the job done right and pay the price, therefore I sent mine to Palo Alto in the US as quoted much less than other US specialists. The results were exactly what I want. Highly recommended.

Had mine done by JDO, good turnaround time, when you talk to him though he tells you exactly how he wants them packing, his way or no way....

just be aware that some restorers will put the tripmeter back to zero unless told otherwise

there are these guys who have been around for many years, but I have no personal experience

Don't send anything to SpeedyCables unless you want to wait ages to get it back worse that when it went, with an invoice. They should stick to cables. W
