We were, but train costs are stupid...

might go to the Trade Day at the Autosport show at 505 of the cost, still stupid £££ but I need a Car Fix.

You can use the code LCCS36 to get a £5 reduction in the price of any tickets purchased on-line.

Hi Darren. It's just round the corner from me. Sounds interesting. Which day are you going? I finally got your steering wheel on my car btw. Now just waiting for the car to be ready after new synchro fitted Perhaps a local spin is needed next weekend.

I went with couple of friends this afternoon for a stroll round to look at some cars and for what it was, it was fine. Not big, not a huge variety of cars nor stands, but easily beat being in the office and got round pretty much all of it in the afternoon. Bought the cheapo, afternoon only tickets, so I am happy.

....it certainly isn't!

My one and only visit to Essen was a mad dash one hour at the event, jogging around to see as much as I could in the time available.....in London I could have taken a casual stroll and seen most things in a fraction of that.

I very nearly didn't bother but then remembered it's very close to Brick Lane and I couldn't remember the last time I'd had a decent beigel.....

Image

.....lunch was a most delicious salt beef, mustard and gherkin beigel, worth the round trip on it's own :)

As for the show.....well, there was a few cars in lurid colours....

Image

Image

....and a couple with dodgy paint schemes....

Image

...but the highlight was most definitely seeing the superb GaugePilot ... http://www.gaugepilot.uk ...

Image

....(apologies for poor photo) an absolutely fantastic product, simple, well thought out, functional with great features and clearly designed by enthusiasts who know what the market is looking for......I can see this being a big hit with both the rally crowd and regular classic enthusiasts alike, who want modern accurate functionality with a great period look. Excellent 8)

An enjoyable couple of hours spent and good to catch up with Nigel, Simon and Andrew. Thanks guys.......

....and as for lunch.......simply superb!

Cheers,

I enjoyed the show, after struggling with the sign posting on the A13, then wonerding if I had gone on the right day as I didn't realise that the Boat Show was on at the same time.

Yes, tiny compared with Essen, expensive if you paid £20 plus to get in and £15 to park, but the standard of the cars on display was impressive, the Adrian Newey display was very enlightening, and the Camel F1 Lotus was very entertaining on the ice like central avenue. There was a very nice Tangerine 73S and the Mexico Blue RHD Carrera 3.0RS

I really enjoyed it but then I am easily pleased.
It was nice to see the Maserati 3500 as I have not seen one for a long time. They never seemed so big back in the day and I did not realise that they had cart springs at the back.
It was also nice to see on the JD Classics stand how smart my Targa could look if I cared enough.
