Thanks Nick
Dan said that mine was the 260th S manufactured, guess that makes it quite old :D

Without information from the factory that would be impossible to confirm. in those days the S model was denoted purely by the S at the end of the VIN. The VINs ran from 305101 - 308523 and the S model VINs were mixed with the base models. Your car is certainly a very early S.

Yeah I've got one of those crappy looking after thought 'S' stamped after the VIN. Feel that there should be something more 'important' looking to designate the top model! (also got the schwingfeuer/standheizung S too.)

yer you could stamp a dot after the S then it would be better looking

Nice to see an acurate listing for your car.

Nick I got dating letters from Porsche and all it said was Yes we made the car from duty free parts in 1969 that's it nothing about the car or what model or anything ?? cost ...£75+vat ekk

Worked it out to £4.24 per work ...including VAT

This is what I got with the car

Image Image

it's dated 1992, came from Porsche GB and lists production details of my car along with the number of 911Ss imported to the UK (total 35)

If your car was first sold in the US, that's where you will need to look for more info first.

I've got a (vague) birth certificate from Porsche (UK?) in the (large) amount of bumpf from Daniel, but it doesn't give a build date. I think I'll contact Porsche GmbH & US of A.

when I spoke to Porsche GB they couldn't help me (my car is Italian). They gave me the Details for Germany. I couldn't bring myself to pay £80 tho :(
