1976 Porsche 911 G Carrera RS

Post by 23e Heure »

Any good? http://www.classiccarsforsale.co.uk/car ... 76/270248/

I like the colour, obviously.
Brutal outside look, and bloody wide (is that standard?)
Then you open the door hoping for a cage and race belts, only to be met with grey porridge.

Interesting if it is "an unrestored and genuine example" as that means it came with a Turbo body.....which I never knew they ever did?

It's had wider wings/flares fitted, wider wheels, ducktail added, resprayed (at least in part), the seats look like those from a 'Silver Anniversary' model ('75 model year), earlier stainless steel door mirror, etc etc

Thats what I thought Andy....how do they get away with advertising it as such then and just saying 'the owner says...'

If they are going to print it they should take some responsibility for what is printed or you could just state absolutely anything (which to be fair is what Coys normally do I suppose...)

Design 911 have a similar car for sale...

Whilst of course not the same car type, it looks very similar. It's been for sale for a while, and strangely started off at £29500 for the first few months.

Yes, record price achieved for a '74/75/76 MFI Carrera.
And that car (whilst very good looking) had the wrong wings & wheels which won't be a cheap fix.
'Be interesting to see the sale price for the RHD Carrera at RM in a few weeks time - 8th Sept.
And that's also a good looking car but with some detail issues including wrong wings (rear quarters)....

That is the one Paul is referring to.

They've still got at least three of 'ours' out there though.

Yes, much improved after a sojourn (and some expense) in Australia.
Now has the right engine lid but as it's a recent fit I'd guess the ducktail is not a genuine original Porsche one and someone - horror of horrors - has badged it as an RS...
Don't like the mirror either. :(

More Chocolate chip I think. There are lots of little (and some larger) details that will be time consuming to put right, for example the lack of satin black on various parts of the interior that are not covered by the carpets or vinyl trim, incorrectly finished Fuchs, what appears to be gold paint on parts in the engine bay that should be plated, later plug leads, probably incorrect tyre sizes as I don't think Michelin Primacies are available in classic sizes. It will probably sell for £200K
